The new discovery by the scientists at the Universities of Cambridge and Bristol is published in the British Ecological Society's journal Functional Ecology, that reveals the presence of Velcro like cells on the plant’s petals that can help the bees to form a grip over flowers especially in case of fast winds.

The study was based on the features of petals surface. The surface of flowers petals was seen by the microscope, it is said by author Dr. Beverley Glover that most of the flowers have very beautiful surface if we look at it closely, in roses it have a round conical petal cells that are very long cells, that are giving velvety look to the petunia flowers most prominent in dark colored flowers variety.

It is revealed by this study that bees prefer conical cells because it helps them to get better grip on the flower. In most of the garden flowers, the species of snapdragons looks complicated because on this type of flower bees has to land in vertical face to reach to the nectar of flower but the flowers like poppies, roses and petunias are more simpler because they provide a good grip to the bees to sit on them to reach their nectar.
