Spring is time to stop and smell the fragrance of beautiful flowers and if you happen to be near a blooming Titan Arum that is an exotic-looking flower and is native to Indonesia you would feel very bad to smell it.

Because when it blooms instead of emitting a pleasant fragrance, this beautiful looking flower emits a disgusting odor that resembles garbage or rotting meat. Fortunately, the plant lasts only for three days and happens once in every six or seven years.

The plant does emit that smell to trap flesh-eating beetles because when attracted to the stench and crawl inside, the only to find them trapped in the sticky pollen of the flower plant. As soon as the pollen gets stuck to the insect's bodies, the flower just withers out by allowing the beetles to escape from it.

In wild areas, the flower plant Titan Arum that looks like a small tree can be found only in the equatorial forests of Sumatra, Indonesia that grow really fast with about a quarter of an inch every hour. The height of a Fully-grown Titan Arums can reach in excess of 20 ft, widths close to 16 ft and weigh more than 70 lbs.
