The unique type of species a night-flowering orchid that is a first of its kind has been described by a team of botanists not known to science before this.

The behavior it has adopted remains a mystery and an expert says that the "remarkable" species is the only orchid known to consistently flower at night.

This wild flower species was first time discovered by a Dutch researcher during an expedition to New Britain that is an island near Papua New Guinea.
